My name is Amy and I am a final-year International Development undergraduate student. Perhaps just like you, I am looking forward to completing the National Student Survey (NSS) which is open until Thursday 30 April for final-year undergraduate students.

This article will help you understand a little more about what the NSS is all about, giving you five important reasons as to why you should make the time to complete it.

What is the NSS?

The National Student Survey - more commonly referred to as the NSS - is an annual nationwide survey held exclusively for final-year undergraduate students, giving you the chance to share your anonymous opinions on your student experience.

It only takes around 5-10 minutes in total to complete, and questions centre around your course, teaching, and general university experience. It is the best opportunity you have to share your thoughts on your own individual experience at King’s.

Why complete the NSS?

Leave your mark at King's

How can we expect King’s to keep improving if we don’t feedback our thoughts and experiences? Whether you want to highlight what’s working well or to help prevent others from facing something difficult, it’s crucial that this feedback reaches the university so that King’s knows how to best show up for its students.

This is your chance to shape a better experience for future students, which simply isn’t possible without your voice.

King's has a history of acting on student feedback

Here are a few things that I've noticed that King's has changed recently in line with student feedback:

- In preparation for one of my recent assessments, I noticed that a grace period has been added to online exam submissions to help with any potential technical issues. Exams are always stressful, and so I found that this made me feel that bit more at ease.

- Moreover, I took part in the King’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship (KURF) over summer. I found this to be a truly unique opportunity to build research skills and experience, which I hope will help me to stand out from my peers on job applications and interviews.

- Finally, I noticed that King’s gyms now have women-only spaces, which has made me feel much more comfortable entering the space and helping me lead a healthy lifestyle as a busy student!

Find out about the many more changes which King's has introduced to improve the student experience.
