Ramadan Mubarak to everyone celebrating this holy month.
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and traditionally begins and ends based on the sighting of the new moon. It is considered one of the holiest months of the Islamic year, and commemorates the Qur’an being revealed to the prophet Muhammad.
This year, Ramadan is expected to run from Wednesday 18 February to Thursday 19 March, with the festival of Eid al-Fitr on Friday 20 March.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and many Muslims will be abstaining from food and drink from dawn until sunset. It is also a time when Muslims are encouraged to increase their good deeds, from acts of charity and community engagement to increasing good values such as generosity, solidarity, kindness, patience and forgiveness.
For many of our students and staff it is a period of spiritual reflection, growth and community, and we wish everyone observing Ramadan a joyful and fulfilling month.
We have facilities and arrangements to ensure our community can observe Ramadan while studying, working, and living on campus. For more information, take a look at our Student Services Online article about where you can get support during Ramadan.
Muslim Prayer rooms

All of King’s Chaplains are available to talk one-to-one with anyone who would like some pastoral support, regardless of their faith background. You can email the Chaplaincy to make an appointment.
