The winter break is a great time to relax with friends and family, reflect on the year that has passed and plan for the one ahead. You might also be planning to do some work during the holiday period.
That's why, this festive season, we’re keeping buildings open at key times to ensure everyone has the space to study effectively, if they need it.
Some of our buildings will be closed over the Festive break at varying times from 20 December to 4 January 2026. But many of our study spaces and libraries are open, meaning that you can still access quiet spaces to work if you need to.
Library opening hours
Our libraries will be open at the following times during the festive period:
Maughan Library, Strand Campus
- Monday 22 December, 09.00–19.00 (plus 24/7 spaces)
- Tuesday 23 December, 09.00–16.00 (plus 24/7 spaces)
- Wednesday 24 December, 10.00–18.00
- Saturday 27 December – Wednesday 31 December, 10.00–18.00
- From Friday 2 January 2026 the library will return to its usual opening hours of 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Franklin Wilkins Building Library
- Monday 22 December, 09.00–19.00
- Tuesday 23 December, 09.00–16.00
- Wednesday 24 December, 10.00–18.00
- Saturday 27 December – Wednesday 31 December, 10.00–18.00
- From Friday 2 January 2026 the library will return to its usual opening hours of 24 hours, 7 days a week.
New Hunt’s House Library

Weston Education Centre Library, Denmark Hill Campus
