Drs Man & Kang Wong Memorial Prize 2020-21

One prize will be offered each year to the value of £250

What is the Drs Man & Kang Wong Memorial Prize?

The Drs Man & Kang Wong Memorial Prize has been established in memory of Dr. Francis Kang Wong and his father, Dr Man Wong, both distinguished graduates of St Thomas’ Medical School.

Family and friends have contributed to this award so that students with an interest in cardiology, who have gained significant academic achievements in their time at King’s, can receive an award to recognise and support their dedication.

The award will be worth £250 and is intended to help support the winner with living expenses whilst studying.

Am I eligible to apply?

Applications are invited from students meeting the following criteria – you should:

  • be an undergraduate MBBS student or undertaking a postgraduate qualification in the Cardiovascular Division;

  • be currently enrolled and in attendance at King’s;

  • have a demonstrable interest in cardiology – evidenced by your supporting statement;

  • be able to provide a reference from your personal/course tutor;

  • have a good academic record at King’s, which will be considered as part of the selection process;

  • be willing to submit a letter of thanks to the donor;

  • be willing to submit a report of your academic activity utilising the prize money.

The prize winner will be selected by committee on consideration of their supporting statement, their personal/course tutor reference and their current and previous year’s academic results.
