Dr. Elizabeth A. Fagan Bursary 2022-23
King’s College London is pleased to offer the Dr. Elizabeth A. Fagan Bursary worth £26,000 for new entrants in 2022-23.
What is the Dr. Elizabeth A. Fagan Bursary?
Dr. Elizabeth A. Fagan AKC (Physiology, 1972; Medicine, 1975; Immunology, 1982; Molecular Virology, 1989) is a transatlantic physician, academic hepatologist, gastroenterologist, biotechnology executive, writer and public speaker.
Although Elizabeth has lived and worked in the USA for 28 years, she feels at home at King’s where she received all her degrees. Elizabeth overcame huge odds to become a doctor, which she chronicles in her memoir, The Resolute Outsider.
Elizabeth and her husband have created a bursary to support a student on the Extended Medical Degree Programme, saying "I recall counting out remaining pennies to cover essentials. I hope to prevent a student from experiencing that anxiety - having to choose between making ends meet and pursuing higher education."
The scholarship is worth £26,000 and is intended to help towards the cost of study and maintenance. Awards will be paid as shown below:
Year 1 - £3,000
Year 2 - £3,000
