About King's Residences

About us_banner_v1

Over 6,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students join King’s Residences each year and our residences act as a platform for them to live and learn through life experiences, developing strategies to manage life’s challenges and using those skills to thrive long after they have left their accommodation. We aim to maximise every interaction to promote individuality, resilience and experience sharing (networking).

King’s vision for 2029 is to make the world a better place. King’s Residences will deliver that by providing a safe, professional, service-driven and inclusive residential community where independent living stimulates non-academic learning to enhance student experience and success at King’s and beyond

What some of the key words mean to us?

The immediate physical safety and security of the residents, guests, staff, and other customers served by the Department is our most imperative and basic concern. Department staff will remain constantly alert to and will act immediately to address problems that pose a threat to safety.

The way our staff, policies, procedures and facilities are presented to the residents to portray order, credibility and professionalism – this covers the individual appearance of staff, the way they communicate to our residents, the cleanliness and maintenance of bedrooms and the appearance of buildings and grounds.

Interactions between our staff and our residents will always be conducted in a courteous and empathetic way in an effort to gain an understanding of the resident’s perspective or problem and seek a solution following our policies and procedures with efficiency, accuracy, dependability, and timeliness.

Our ability to make each resident to feel they belong and where judgment by others are made solely on one's conduct, character, and exercise of citizenship and intellect, regardless of distinctions in their identity, that include but are not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, physical ability, mental ability, class, cultural history, and life experience.

Where residents are able to balance the desire to explore individual differences with the desire to celebrate common bonds, where success is dependent on each resident’s effort understanding the rights and responsibilities as well as adhering to the principles upon which our community is built.

An environment where residents will experience challenges, from building maintenance issues to isolation, and have to develop strategies to deal with each of them by seeking guidance from the residence staff or advice from their friends and family to do so successfully themselves.
