Radiologists (qualified doctors) and radiographers (medical technologists) use imaging technology to diagnose, treat and monitor diseases and injuries. Their work makes it possible for diseases to be diagnosed at an earlier stage, and also helps to monitor the progress of patients undergoing treatment more effectively.

Some of the better known types of technology used in hospitals include x-rays, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
