The module considers representations of space and place in a wide range of artistic mediums including painting, photography, literature, cinema and music.
The module will familiarise students with key work on art and landscape in cultural and urban geography
The module will introduce students to some theoretical texts on modernism/postmodernism and to link these aesthetic concepts to debates in geography
The module will develop the students’ understanding of various –isms, genres and modes of representing space and place
The module will reflect critically on how identity categories such as class, gender, race and sexuality inform cultural aesthetics and landscapes
