Language and Communication Impairment (Module)

Module description

This module is designed for both linguistics students and psychology students. For linguistics students, it offers insight into the psychology of language development in the face of language impairment; for psychology students, it will offer linguistic detail and structure on language impairment areas. The module will specifically focus on language, and will only occasionally include reference to other issues, e.g.frustration and behaviour. Well-known developmental disorders, such as Specific Language Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Down's Syndrome, and common acquired impairments, such as Aphasia, will form the focal point of the module.
