This module provides an understanding of British political history since 1945. It sets out both to consider the main political developments and tendencies, and also to consider the wider context which is essential to an appreciation of those political events. Therefore, alongside political history it includes economic, social, cultural and diplomatic history, all of which combine to provide students with a broader grasp of Britain from the end of the Second World War to the present.
This is a core module and therefore the module must be taken and passed in order to graduate with an MA in Politics and Contemporary History.
