Clinical And Forensic Toxicology (Module)

Module description

This module gives you the opportunity to explore the common drugs and chemical poisons relevant to both clinical and forensic toxicology.  You will be taught by a number of leading experts in the field that will share their knowledge on the diagnosis and management of poisoning and drug overdose along with laboratory investigations of suspected drug and alcohol abuse and deaths.

 A strong emphasis is placed is on the application of modern analytical methods to the measurement of drugs, chemical poisons and their metabolites in biological fluids in both a clinical and medicolegal context.

 The emphasis of this module is to integrate aspects of clinical pharmacology, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, with extensive use of both clinical and forensic case reports concerning suspected poisoning and drug misuse.
