Emerging Powers in Global Leadership (Module)

Module description

This module situates the phenomenal emergence of countries like Brazil, Russia, India, China and increasingly, South Africa within the context of methods adopted by their respective leaders and the peculiarities of their respective societies. The activities of these countries in the areas of global trade/investment, development, international peacekeeping, etc are covered over the duration of the course and a careful analysis will be undertaken as to the extent to which other developing countries, especially in Africa, Asia and Latin America, can use the templates of these countries for their own developments. Comparative analysis will be made of the leadership strategies each has adopted in the pursuit of its objectives.
