Health Economics (Module)

Module description

The module covers the principles of economics and their application to health and health care.  The aim is to enable those successfully completing the module to understand economic analyses in health care and to act as a foundation for those wishing to use economic analysis in their work.  Basic economic principles are taught using applications in health and health care.

At the end of the module, students will have developed an understanding of health economics and why economic analysis is useful in analysing real world issues in health and health care.   Students will be able to discuss health policy and management issues informed by knowledge of the economics issues involved in them.
