Linguistic Analysis For Language Teaching (Module)

Module description

The purpose of this module is to provide an in depth introduction to linguistic description and analysis, and to develop in teachers an advanced understanding of key concepts and procedures with regard to syntax, lexis, phonology and discourse, especially with reference to ELT pedagogy. Participants will further their knowledge and use of established frameworks (concepts, terms and models) for the analysis of the English language systems, and to relate these to the second language teaching and learning curriculum - addressing issues such as the syllabus, methodology, and materials.
