Medical Imaging With Ionising Radiation (Module)

Module description

The module aims to provide knowledge that underpins the Physics of Medical Imaging with Ionising Radiation and gives tools to undertake further research or practice in this area.
At the conclusion of the module the student will be able to discuss the physical processes behind image formation in nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology; explain the normal and pathological appearances of images and identify common imaging artefacts; discuss the physical principles and operation of radiographic and nuclear medicine equipment; explain the factors that affect imaging system performance; understand the legislation and guidance that ensures safe working in the radiation environment
