Module description

Educational Aims of the Module:

This module aims to give students detailed practical knowledge of how to carry out neuroimaging studies by immersing them in the working life of those working at the Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences. Students will learn about all aspects of practical neuroimaging from study design and data acquisition, through to data analysis, interpretation and write up. Students will be involved in one of more than 50 studies ongoing within the Centre at any time, will have dedicated teaching time on a new MRI scanner, access to a mock scanner for training, high performance computing for analysis and attend the regular clinical and research neuroimaging seminar series at the IoPPN.

Learning Outcomes of the Module:

Students will gain the skills to design a neuroimaging project from scratch, being aware of both methodological and patient centred requirements for a good study. They will be able to contribute to data acquisition and perform data analysis for a range of techniques including structural and functional neuroimaging.
