Radiation Safety (Module)

Module description

The module aims to provide knowledge that underpins the radiological protection requirements of both ionising and non-ionising radiation used in Healthcare and gives tools to undertake further research or practice in this area.

At the conclusion of the module the student will be able to critically appraise the legislation and guidance that applies to ionising radiation safety; discuss the physical processes behind image formation in diagnostic radiology; discuss the physical principles and operation of radiographic equipment and explain the factors that affect system performance; understand the principles of operational radiation protection.
