'I chose King’s because the Biomedical Sciences course it offered sounded perfect to me at a time when I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to specialise in. I wanted to have a taste of the wide range of different disciplines within the umbrella term ‘biomedical science’ first, as I didn’t even know what many of them were about. The course allowed me to do that, so by the end of my first year I knew what I wanted to study in greater depth and was able to choose my subjects for my subsequent years according to my interests.
As well as providing students with excellent academic background, King’s is also a great place to develop your non-academic skills, socialise and make friends with wonderful people from all over the world. There’s an excellent choice of student societies (from musical theatre to weightlifting!), and it’s a great opportunity to either continue with a hobby you’ve had before or take up a new one, and have lots of fun along the way. I know what I’m talking about :)
My experience with King’s has been great so far. I’m being taught by academics who are leaders in their fields, I’ve had lots of practical experience (even took an extra mural year, which I spent in one of the university labs), learned to play ukulele and even sang opera (never thought I'd do that!). As an international student I’ve always felt very welcomed and supported, so I can totally recommend coming to study here to any student from any country. Of course it may be a bit difficult at first (certainly was for me), but you can be sure you’ll get great support and adapt in no time :)'
