King’s offers a number of additional study options to enhance your university experience. These include:
Study abroad
King’s has study abroad student exchange programmes with prestigious partner universities in 30 countries across Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas. King’s will often lower tuition fees for students studying abroad.
Overseas opportunities also exist for medical and dental students to:
- undertake a short placement or elective during their clinical years
- pursue a comparative research project during their intercalated BSc; destinations range from the USA to Papua New Guinea.
The Associateship of King’s College (AKC)
The AKC is a unique course originally awarded in 1835, and can be taken by all students alongside their degree. Graduates with the AKC qualification can use the letters AKC after their names.
The course provides lectures on aspects of:
- ethics, philosophy and theology
- Biblical studies and Christian doctrine.
Organised by the Dean’s Office, AKC lectures in recent years include:
- Knowing What To Do: Ethics and Contemporary Dilemmas
- Conflicts and Conflict Resolution
- The Bible: Literature, Artefact, Scripture.
Academic English & study skills support
The English Language Centre runs academic preparation courses for international students who do not yet qualify for direct entry into undergraduate degree courses. The Centre also provides an extensive range of academic English and study skills support free to both home and overseas students during their degree.
Language modules as part of your degree
Modern Language Centre accredited language modules, which count towards a final degree, are available free to students of any discipline, subject to approval from their home department. Students wishing to take a language module outside of their degree programme may do so for a fee.
Evening language classes
Not-for-credit evening classes are offered in 23 languages. Specialised courses, such as legal and business language, are also available. Courses are open to the public. King’s students benefit from a discounted rate.
