Care Leaver and Estranged Bursary 2019-20
Care Leaver and Estranged Bursaries of up to £1,000 per year are available for students who are under 25 and have experience of care or are estranged.
What is the Care Leaver and Estranged Bursary?
The College makes available bursaries of up to £1,000 to students who are a care leaver, who have had experience within the care system or who are estranged from their family.
An estranged person is someone who no longer has a relationship or is no longer in contact with their family, and is not supported by them. This might mean biological or adoptive parents or wider family members who have been responsible for supporting the student in the past.
How do I apply?
The bursaries are awarded to undergraduate students who have had their care-experienced or estranged status verified. Students are encouraged to give UCAS and Student Finance England 'consent to share' their financial information with the college. Students will then be contacted by the designated member of staff for care leavers who will work with the student to verify their status.
Further information about ways in which the College supports care leavers can be found here, and more information on support for estranged students can be found here.
The College has tried to give students an early opportunity to begin their research of student funding.
