Amazon Future Engineer Bursary 2020-21
The Amazon Future Engineer Bursary is a fund to help support all students who are able to demonstrate need of financial assistance, to undertake an eligible programme at King's.
The two bursaries are worth up to £15,000 (Home UK resident) and are intended to help towards the cost of living costs whilst studying. The bursary will be paid across years 2 and 3. Periods of repeat or interrupted study, as well as periods of study abroad, will not be funded.
What is the Amazon Future Engineer Bursary?
King's is delighted and excited to be part of the Amazon Future Engineer Bursary Scheme. Whilst great work in recent years has gone into widening access and opportunities for women within Informatics and Computer Sciences, more is needed to level the gender playing field.
We believe this scheme will both encourage more women to study within these fields and also provide a great boost to the recipient's studies, by decreasing the financial burden many students currently face.
As the location of a public demonstration by Charles Babbage of his machines in the 1840s, King's College London is proud to continue our role at the leading edge of the computational and communication sciences.
The bursary recipient will benefit from mentoring from a female member of staff working at Amazon to help with CV and interview advice. Following their 2nd and 3rd year, the award holder will also benefit from guaranteed interviews for internships at Amazon.
The winner will be selected on the basis of demonstrable financial need. Applicants must be entering the second year of their programme in 2020-21.
The bursary is open to all female Home UK students meeting the course criteria with a household income of £42,875 or less (if you are an independent student, this will be you and your partner, if applicable).
What does the Bursary offer?
The annual bursary will be paid annually in three termly instalments of £2,500, payable in October, January and April of Year 2 and Year 3 of your programme.
A maximum of 2 years will be funded, of which periods of interruption, repeat years / resit years and study abroad years will not be funded.
