What can I study?
Our Undergraduate Summer School offers a wide range of modules spanning subject areas such as health and science, law, governance, business management, culture and ancient languages.
Each module lasts three weeks and modules are offered in two different sessions. Students are welcome to attend both sessions and thereby study two modules of your choice.
There are two sessions on the following dates:
- Session One: Monday 4 July - Friday 22 July
- Session Two: Monday 25 July - Friday 12 August

This module is ideal for anyone who is interested in strategy, management, marketing, innovation or entrepreneurship. It will provide an excellent foundation for postgraduate level study in all these areas, as well as equipping you with the skills you need to kickstart a successful career!

Ancient & Modern Languages Summer School Modules
This intensive beginner-level module introduces the study of Latin, giving you the opportunity to reach a point where you are able to translate basic English into Latin and to read very simple texts in Latin.

Teaching hours
Undergraduate Summer School modules comprise 150 study hours over three weeks, which includes 45 hours of classes on campus, as well as independent study, team project work and assessment preparation.
Teaching will begin at either 9am or 2pm each weekday (British Summer Time), and students will be grouped into the session based on availability and operational requirements of the module.
Attendance
Attendance is vital to success on the module, and you are required attend at least 80% of your lessons in order to pass the module.
Assessment and grading
All students will receive a final mark on their Record of Agreed Results (transcript). The UK grading system may be very different from what you are used to. Please note in the UK anything above 70 is considered excellent; it is not usual to receive much above 80 even if this is what you are used to at your home university.
King's College London's Undergraduate Marking Criteria is categorised by the following breakdown of marks:
- 90-100 (First) Grade A++
- 80-89 (First) Grade A+
- 70-79 (First) Grade A
- 60-69 (Upper 2nd) Grade B
- 50-59 (Lower 2nd) Grade C
- 40-49 (Third) Grade D
- 33-39 (Fail) Grade F
- 0-32 (Fail) Grade FF
Credit value
Modules can often be taken for credit towards degrees at other institutions and are examined to university standards. To receive credit for King's summer module, contact your home institution to ask them to award external credit. This module is equivalent to an undergraduate degree module and usually awarded 3-4 US credits or 7.5 ECTS.
We offer places on our Undergraduate Summer School on either a residential or non-residential basis. You can choose to book accommodation as part of your application.
Accommodation
King's offers single accommodation to summer school students on a first come, first served basis. Our student accommodation is located throughout central London and within commuting distance to our teaching campuses on the Strand, Waterloo & London Bridge.
The accommodation is arranged into mixed flats of 6-10 students (depending on location) and each student will have their own bedroom, containing a bed, en-suite bathroom (including a toilet, shower and sink), wardrobe, desk and drawers. Students will not be provided with a mini-fridge in their rooms, as the residences operate according to high sustainability standards.
Every room will have bedding and one towel. There is a laundry room available on site and you can use this at a small additional cost.
Each flat has access to a communal kitchen area. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker, fridge, sink and storage, as well as a seating area. Kitchen crockery and cooking equipment are not supplied. You may want to wish to bring something with you if you do wish to cook meals, otherwise supplies can be easily purchased in the local area.
The accommodation has its own service team who will help with any issues that may arise during your stay and there is 24-hour security.
Food & catering
We do not offer catering as part of our residential accommodation package. King's Food is available on all teaching campuses along with a vast choice of shops, cafes, street food stalls and restaurants giving you the flexibility to choose when and what you eat while studying with King's next summer.
Arriving & departing
Undergraduate students can check into their King's accommodation from 3pm on the day before their programme starts (Sunday). Check out is 9am the day after their programme ends (Saturday). Outside of these times students who wish to extend their stay, or arrive a night earlier, will have to contact the King’s Venues Summer Team via stopover@kcl.ac.uk or 0207 848 1700 ext. 1
We require applicants to be working at or above, or have obtained, a 2:1 level (or equivalent) in their degree programme. Equivalencies for some countries are listed below. If your qualification is not listed please contact us for advice, indicating the country in which you are studying and the name and level of your current qualification.
We may consider qualifications which are different to those below on a case-by-case basis.

All classes are taught and assessed in English, except ancient language modules. All applicants must have studied English to at least level C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) or offer one of the below:
• BULATS, minimum score of 65
• Cambridge Advanced Certificate - grade B
• Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English - grade C

• Duolingo English Test, we require a minimum test score of 105

• IELTS - 6.5 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill.

• iTEP - Level 5
• TOEFL Internet Based Test - 95 with minimum 20 in all skills (within the last 2 years)
• TOEFL Paper based test - 583 with minimum 53 in all skills (within the last two years)
