War Studies Online offers two-year part-time degree programmes from the highly-respected Department of War Studies in a fully online format. Our innovative courses are designed for flexibility, enabling you to combine study and work.

We currently offer two masters-level programmes for applicants interested in international relations, military history, conflict and politics. Please note that our term dates differ from other MA Programmes.

  • MA International Relations and Contemporary War
    This course provide you with a deep and systematic understanding of the historical evolution of the international system and contemporary war, and critical awareness of current problems and new insights. You will start with advanced training in the main conceptual and theoretical debates within the discipline of international relations and apply them to current problems and issues in contemporary war.

    This course provides you with an understanding of the evolution of contemporary conflict and warfare from 1945 to the present day, including security issues and geo-political changes.
