The Economic and Social Research Council and Newton Funded ‘Learning from Small Cities’ research project team based at the Urban Futures research domain, Department of Geography, are hosting their launch workshop entitled 'Learning from Small Cities: Governing Imagined Futures and the Dynamics of Change in India’s Smart Urban Age'.

They are also hosting a follow-up workshop on ‘Big Data and Urban Governance on the Margins of the City’ as part of a British Academy Visiting Research Fellowship awarded to Professor Sanjay Srivastava (India Principal Investigator on the ESRC project) at King’s College London on 2nd August 2018.

This 2-day workshop aims to bring to focus research on smart cities, urban transformations, big data and urban governance in India and the Global South and will involve academic, practitioners and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) working in various research and practice disciplines, including urban studies, urban, social, cultural and political geography, technology and ICTs, sociology and geoinformatics.
