LIDDELL HART CENTRE FOR MILITARY ARCHIVES: The papers of Brig Sydney ThomasDivers include correspondence with McCreery relating to Royal Army Service Corps work with 10 Corps, Italy 1944-1945 (ref: Divers 3/3); a printed collection of McCreery's messages to the 8 Army in North Africa and Italy (published 1945 ref: Divers 3/13); also six letters from McCreery 1945-1953 (ref: Divers 4/2/1-6); the papers of Capt Sir Basil Henry Liddell Hart include correspondence with McCreery 1957-1959 (ref: LH 2M/9/1-11) IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM, LONDON: copy of unpublished biography by Maj Gen John M Strawson covering service 1915-1949 (ref: 75/130/1); the papers of Lt Gen Sir Oliver William Hargreaves Leese (ref: Strong Rm), include a single copy letter to McCreery, Jan 1945, including background to the campaign in Burma; the papers of Lt Gen Sir Giffard Le Quesne Martel (ref: P240-245) include correspondence with McCreery on armoured warfare in the Middle East, Apr-Aug 1942; No other private papers have been traced. Sir Richard's family stated in 1982 that they had no papers. Papers held by his widow (cited in Chris Cook, Sources in British political history, 1900-1951 (Macmillan, London, 1975) have not been located
