Katherine Sleeman has been awarded the inaugural European Association for Palliative Care award for women in palliative care, in recognition of her work as part of the Cicely Saunders Institute Athena Swan team, analysing gender bias at palliative care conferences.

The work was published in BMJ Supportive and Palliative Care and was cited by the Scientific Organising committee for the 2019 EAPC World Congress as a motivating factor to ensure gender parity at the 2019 and subsequent conferences.
