The Department of Political Economy hosted Mena Cammett, a senior economist at the World Bank Group's Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), for a workshop which examined the basics of what political risk assessment is.

As well as a lecture, students were tasked with applying their knowledge to three case studies (natural resources, renewable energy, and transport), and had a chance to learn more about careers in political risk too.

In her role with MIGA, Mena analyses economics, politics, and governance in emerging markets to provide investors with political risk guarantees against expropriation, political violence, currency transfer risks, and government breach of contract.

The workshop took place on 27 March and was organised by Dr Barbara Piotrowska.
