Biography

Axel Dessein is a doctoral candidate at the Centre for Grand Strategy in the War Studies Department of King’s College London and a managing editor at the department’s Strife Blog. He received his BA and MA in Oriental Languages and Cultures at Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium. A recipient of the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship in August 2018, his research focuses on how China’s rise and the development of an alternative modernity has moved from aspiration to actuality.
