Dr Rachel Aukett

Biography

Rachel Aukett specialises in languages teacher education across both primary and secondary phases, working at both postgraduate and undergraduate level with German, French and Spanish as specialist languages.

Her publications include BBC Bitesize German and she is an editor for the Association for Languages Learning "Languages Today" magazine, website and other publications. 

Rachel has a Master's Degree in Education Management specialising in Primary languages. She hosts a twitter feed @TheMFLHive which is a resource bank and source of languages teaching information relevant from KS1-5 with over 3,000 tweets and retweets generated over the past 14 years.

Research 

Rachel's current areas of academic interest include:

  • adaptive online education;
  • facilitating successful transition in languages education between primary and secondary phases; and
  • the role of motivation in successful teacher development.
