King’s is proud to partner with The Courtauld Institute of Art, an internationally renowned leader in art history, curation and conservation. Together, we're combining our expertise and resources to enrich teaching and research, open up new opportunities for students through shared courses, facilities and services, and expand our arts and cultural programmes.

World-class shared facilities

Our partnership gives students from both institutions access to a wide range of services and facilities, creating a lively environment that supports collaboration and creativity.

King’s students enjoy free entry to the permanent collection of the The Courtauld Gallery. Located next to the Strand Campus in the historic Somerset House, it holds one of the UK's most celebrated art collections and is known for its Impressionist paintings and cultural events.

Courtauld students have access to a wide range of facilities across King’s five campuses, including libraries and special collections, bars, cafés and social spaces, sports and wellness centres, an NHS Health Centre on the Strand, and some of King’s residences.

For more details on accessing King’s services and facilities, Courtauld students should visit The Courtauld's website.

Education in partnership

We’re creating new educational opportunities and strengthening connections between King’s and The Courtauld through module exchanges and shared learning experiences. Students from The Courtauld’s History of Art BA and King’s Liberal Arts BA can take modules across both institutions. First-year History of Art students also study a language at King’s Language Centre, while Liberal Arts students benefit from access to The Courtauld’s Vernon Square Library and a limited number of free tickets to The Courtauld Gallery’s temporary exhibitions. This collaboration gives students access to the exceptional resources and academic expertise of both institutions.

Master's programmes

We have developed two innovative Master’s programmes designed to equip students with the critical insight and professional skills needed to thrive in creative and cultural industries. The Contemporary Art and the Moving Image MA is a collaborative degree programme focused on the intersection of contemporary art and moving image practice. The Art and Business MA prepares students for success in the commercial art world by bringing together The Courtauld’s strengths in the visual arts and King’s excellence in business education.
