The Examinations Office employs invigilators to support the examination process throughout the year. For the main examination periods, exams are organised centrally by our office, and there are some exams throughout the academic year which are organised by other departments within the university.  

The main examination periods for the university are in January, May/June and August and we require a large number of invigilators during these periods. To find the dates for this academic year’s main examination periods, CLICK HERE. 

Examinations are held at our campuses (Waterloo, Strand, Guy’s, Denmark Hill and St Thomas’ Hospital) as well as at external examination venues. 

We are looking for enthusiastic people who can demonstrate common sense, accuracy, attention to detail, and are willing to provide the best examination experience possible for students. You must be reliable, punctual, have a flexible attitude to work and possess good communication skills. 

Duties include setting up examination rooms, checking attendance, observing, collecting scripts, and liaising with candidates and examination staff to resolve queries.  

Invigilating positions are not open to undergraduate students, however, postgraduate students are encouraged to apply. 

Please note that any postgraduate students who are due to sit an examination during the main examination periods (January, May/June and August) will be permitted to invigilate only after they have sat any scheduled examinations. 

The rate of pay is £13.09 per hour, with an additional £1.44 holiday pay per hour. Please note that any breaks will be paid.
