About Us

A Unique Approach

A Unique Approach:

Established in 2012, the King’s Commercialisation Institute challenges the traditional commercial transaction approaches pursued by typical university technology transfer offices. The Institute is staffed by those who have worked in the life science industry and understand its needs for the development and commercialisation of new technologies. The focus is one of active engagement with King’s research projects for commercial translation that is better aligned with the needs of industry and the market and which captures the full benefits that new technologies can deliver.

The Institute accelerates the commercial translation of disruptive life science technologies for the benefit of society and our industrial and investor partners.

Our Purpose:

King’s Commercialisation Institute aims to be a catalyst for creating a growing entrepreneurial community within King’s College London and the NHS Foundation Trusts which comprise King's Health Partners. The goals are to accelerate and grow the commercial and public benefits arising from the university’s education and research activities and to foster an environment where aspiring entrepreneurs can thrive.

The Commercialisation Institute supports and delivers a series of activities to enhance entrepreneurial awareness and skill development whilst facilitating the early commercial translation and development of commercially compelling life science research projects emerging from across King’s Health Partners. Our ultimate goal is to transact these valuable assets either as direct licensing opportunities or to facilitate external finance and creation of spin out companies for furthering their development and commercialisation.
