How to Become a Visiting Scholar
The Centre for LDC regularly welcomes visiting academics, who stay at King’s for periods which vary from one month to a year (or more, in some exceptional cases). Visiting scholars may be established academics, post-doctoral researchers or doctoral students, and as well as accessing KCL libraries, they make an active contribution to our research culture, participating in seminars, auditing taught courses, interacting with relevant specialists, and so forth. Please click for a list of our seminars.
Unfortunately, our resources are finite, so we are unable to accept all the requests we receive, and can only consider people whose research interests are very well matched with our own. We also charge a bench fee and potential visitors should ask for more details. If your research interests connect closely with those of a member of our staff and you would like to spend some time here, then please email the relevant member of staff, with:
- information about your reasons for wanting to come to King’s (your background, your current work, the benefits you anticipate from a visit, the funding to support you)
- your CV
- the names, positions and email addresses of two referees, together with a note on how they know you. We will respond to you as soon as we can.

Once you have the agreement of the member of academic staff with whom you would like to interact during a stay at King’s, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org stating if you are an established academic, post-doctoral researcher or doctoral student with your CV. Your bench fee can then be established.
