Professor Hugh Murphy will lead a seminar which will celebrate of the lives and work of leading maritime historians who have recently passed and whose contributions have been invaluable to the field. These include John Armstrong, Kathleen Crimmin, Peter Davies, Eric Grove, and David Williams.
About the speaker
Hugh Murphy is an Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow, Visiting Reader in Maritime History at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, and a former Editor of The Mariner's Mirror, the International Journal of the Society of Nautical Research. He is a previous winner of the Anderson Medal for Research in Maritime History. His research specialism is the British shipbuilding industry and he is the author of many many related studies.
