“We welcome you to our land; the land of César Vallejo”

Exclusive UK Premiere of the highly acclaimed Peruvian film “De todas las cosas que se han de saber”

Followed by Q&A with the director (via Zoom) and Expert Panel Guests (live).

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, King’s College London and Cine Latino in the UK proudly present the first UK screening of Sofía Velázquez' "De todas las cosas que se han de saber". Her playful documentary is an endearing homage to César Vallejo, one of Peru's most iconic poets and writers of the 20th century.

Synopsis:

A group of filmmakers arrives in Santiago de Chuco, a town in the Peruvian highlands, birthplace of the Peruvian poet César Vallejo. Under the pretense of a casting call, the filmmakers occupy the local theater and little by little the inhabitants of Santiago de Chuco arrive, revealing vivid memories influenced by the aura of the poet, who died in Paris in 1938. Between verses, stories and poetry, the filmmakers and locals embark on a beautiful filmic journey where the memory of a town interlaces with the legacy of a literary icon.

The screening is free.
