About the hosts:

Dr. Deepak Mawar - Deepak is a Visiting Lecturer at King’s College London. He is an expert in International Legal History and Legal & Political Philosophy, and the author of the book: States Undermining International Law: League of Nations, United Nations, Failed Utopianism. Deepak holds a PhD in International Law from King’s College London, an LLM in Public International Law from Leiden University and an LLB in European Legal Studies from the University of Kent.

Aniq Ahmed - Aniq is a working professional focused on setting up financial institutions in the UK. He has 10 years of experience working in management consultancies, retail and investment banks, and start-ups. Aniq holds a BSc in Financial Economics with Econometrics from the University of Kent and a MSc in Economic History from the LSE.

About the guests:

Dr. Luke Abbs - Dr Luke Abbs is a research fellow at the Centre for Religion, Reconciliation and Peace (CRRP) and visiting fellow at the Department of Government, University of Essex. He engages in applied data analytics, using statistical methods and supervised machine learning prediction to analyse the dynamics of political conflict and inform key policy questions about peace and armed conflict. He has also engaged in various consultancies for the United Nations Operations Crisis Center (UNOCC), Conciliation Resources, the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict ICNC) and the United States Institute for Peace (USIP).

Dr. Nicole Votruba - Dr. Nicole Votruba is a post doctoral researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King’s College London and focuses on global mental health, stigma, and suicide prevention. She is policy officer of the all party parliamentary group on global mental health. From 2014 to 2016 Nicole was coordinator of FundaMentalSDG, a global initiative strengthening mental health within the SDGs. Nicole has an MA in Political Science, and regularly consults organisations such as the World Health Organisation.

Dr Nicola Palmer - Dr Nicola Palmer is a Senior Lecturer in criminal law at King’s and the author of Courts in Conflict: Interpreting the Layers of Justice in Post-Genocide Rwanda (paperback OUP, 2019). She has written on questions of resistance to mass violence, methodological approaches to transitional justice and the intersections of plural legal processes set up in response to exceptional violence with support from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the British Academy.

Professor Andrej Zwitter - Professor Andrej Zwitter is chair of Governance and Innovation and the dean of the Faculty Campus Fryslân of the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. Prof. Zwitter's expertise in technology, ethics and law encapsulate an array of academic and professional perspectives relating to ethical implications of Big Data, Blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.
