John Kahekwa, Founder and General Manager of the Pole Pole Foundation will talk about their recent nomination as a finalist in the inaugural Earthshot Awards, the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Conservation. The Pole Pole Foundation works to support communities and protect critically endangered Grauer’s Gorillas and their forest habitat in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, developing innovative approaches to protect and restore nature in one of the most challenging operating regions on earth.

John will talk about his work over the past three decades, providing unique insights into the challenges and opportunities in conservation and what does and does not work on the ground, as well as the Pole Pole Foundation’s plans for the next ten years to achieve an Earthshot to help protect and restore nature and win the global fight against climate change.
