Join us for a creative and collaborative gathering celebrating the work of this year’s Activist-in-Residence participants at King’s College London. The Activist-in-Residence Festival 2025 is a space to reflect, connect, and re-imagine the work of change making together. This festival brings together artists, organisers, researchers, and community members to explore the many ways activism shows up in our lives. Expect a mix of creative exploration, conversation, movement, and making, finding new ways of resisting, organising, and caring for each other. You’ll choose from different activist journeys throughout the day, with space for quiet reflection and collective energy alike.

Collective Crafting & Storytelling (10:00 AM – 11:30 AM)
The day opens with a hands-on, reflective session where participants co-create smaller pieces of a large collective banner. Guided by prompts around Power, Change, Movement, Home, and Listening, this activity invites everyone to contribute to a shared artwork and conversation that will ripple through the rest of the day.

Choose your path (2 sessions):

You’ll select two journeys, - one before lunch, one after- from these four:

Workshop Session 1 – 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

  • Rebel Banner: Listen Louder!

Building on the collective banner-making activity from the morning, this workshop invites participants to deepen conversations and creatively develop the pieces generated earlier in the day. Together, we will curate these into a larger, unified artwork that responds to themes emerging from the Activist-in-Residence programme. Drawing inspiration from the revolutionary history of banner-making and the Rebel By Default project by Positively UK, we’ll explore how craft, storytelling, and collective action come together through fabric, texture, and design.

  • Language & Politics

A discussion on the revitalization of political debate through analysis of texts from the past brought to new life by translation. Principles & practices of radical translation.

Hot lunch with vegan options will be provided from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM, with space to chat and connect.

Workshop Session 2 – 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

  • Moving Together: Walking, Belonging, and Collective Care

This workshop invites us to explore walking as a practice of connection—within ourselves, with one another, and with the spaces we inhabit. Through guided movement, spatial games and the unfolding of journey, we’ll investigate how the body carries home, how we move and are moved in relation to others, and how walking together can be an act of collective care.

  • Breaking Borders, Confronting Denial: Fighting Racism in Europe

Europe’s antiracist struggle is being suffocated by denial—denial of history, of systemic violence, of everyday racism. This workshop will rip through myths, exposing how racism is reinforced across nations and why silence is complicity. We’ll dissect power: who holds it, who is denied it, and how we reclaim it. Through discussion, we’ll explore how activism transcends borders and why collective resistance is urgent.

Final Reflections: 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM

We’ll close the day with an open-floor discussion, shared insights, and a celebratory drink. Expect connection, creativity, and maybe even a performance to wrap things up!

A quiet room will be available all day for rest and decompression.
Stewards will be on hand to guide you around and support access needs.
All forms of participation
are welcome — speak, write, listen, or simply be present.
