Strand Campus

The Strand Campus is the founding campus of King's College London, and comprises the Grade I listed King's Building (1831) designed by Sir Robert Smirke, and the College Chapel, redesigned in 1864 by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The campus has expanded considerably to incorporate the East Wing of Somerset House in 2010, and the Aldwych Quarter site incorporating the historic Bush House in 2015. Led by current students from across all of our departments, find out what changed and revisit your old haunts.

Courtauld Gallery: Permanent Collections

We are delighted to be able to offer a guided tour of the Courtauld Gallery as part of the day. The Gallery is home to a much-loved permanent collection ranging from the Renaissance through to the 20th century. It is renowned for its remarkable group of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, including the worldfamous A Bar at the Folies Bergère by Édouard Manet and Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear by Vincent van Gogh. Please note there are very limited spaces for this tour, and you will have to sign up in advance.

Maughan Library

Acquired by the university in 1998, the Maughan Library has taken advantage of the magnificent architecture and unusual features of the former Public Record Office building. Constructed between 1856 and 1898, it was designed to be almost entirely fireproof. The tour will highlight both the historical features of the building and some of the library’s modern technology and community-focused spaces. Please note the library is a 10-minute walk away from Bush House. There are very limited spaces for this tour, and you will have to sign up in advance.
