Our understanding of the political preferences and voting intentions of different socio-demographic groups has been constantly evolving as social scientists and pollsters have gathered and developed data on the electoral makeup of the population.

One social group that has received scant attention, particularly in the UK, is sexual minorities and members of the LGBT+ community.

Is there an LGBT+ vote? If so, how does the LGBT+ vote behave at the ballot box? What explains their behaviour? Where do they stand on some of the most important issues facing voters in British politics today - are they Brexiteers or Remainers? Do they support a national lockdown, or do they want pubs and clubs to stay open?

Dr Stuart Turnbull-Dugarte, assistant professor in political science, will present some of his recent work in which he provides answers to these questions and more.
