The MRC-Asthma UK Centre in the Allergic Mechanisms of Asthma is at the cutting-edge of asthma and allergy research, working to better understand these complex conditions and provide preventions and treatments.
As part of the MRC Festival 2018, please join this free public evening event where we will share the many different ways that the Centre's researchers are investigating asthma and allergies.
The event will begin with a series of short presentations with an opportunity for questions, and will be followed by an informal drinks reception and the chance to explore further areas of the Centre's research and discuss these with the researchers.
During the evening, researchers will share their research in areas such as:
- Understanding why some children develop asthma, and what we may be able to do to prevent this.
- Investigating the role that genes play in asthma and allergies.
- Developing treatments for the common cold and viruses, which are a trigger for most asthma attacks.
- How does pollution contribute to the development and worsening of asthma?
- Research investigating new treatments for asthma and allergies.
