BALEAP

Conference Overview

King’s Foundations is proud to host the BALEAP PIM on Collaboration, Power and Influence within EAP and higher education. We invite you to join us at our Strand Campus or online to discuss the issues.

As EAP professionals our work relies on effective collaboration across and beyond the university. However, our willingness to collaborate may not always be reciprocated by faculties, students and other stakeholders. Join us at King’s College London to discuss this issue, consider how power is shared in higher education and exchange ideas on how we can build influence effectively.

About King’s Foundations

King’s Foundations is a leading centre for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and pathway education across the HE sector, accredited by the British Council. As one of the largest providers of pathway education, we welcome over 2,500 students each year across our King’s International Foundation Programmes and our range of Pre-sessional Programmes, with programmes offered online, on campus and in a blended way. We are also responsible for the delivery of Academic Skills provision across the university. This provision is made up of an array of workshops, 1-1 sessions and asynchronous online materials. We also work closely with an increasing number of faculties to deliver further integrated/embedded academic literacy provision.

Our mission is to support a diverse group of learners to achieve their potential at King’s, supporting students to become independent and inquisitive learners. King’s Foundations is home to approximately 100 permanent staff, growing to around 150 during our busy summer months. We champion a forward-thinking approach to education and take a digitally-enabled approach across all aspects of education. Over the last 6 years, the department has seen significant planned growth in support of King’s Vision 2029.
