Dr John Holland
Talk title:
Optimising Access to and Outcomes from Transplantation in Older Kidney Patients: the OK POP Study
Summary:
As the population ages, the prevalence of advanced chronic kidney disease increases and the demand for kidney transplants among older patients rises. Affected by multiple long-term health conditions and geriatric syndromes, these patients require tailored care plans and optimisation strategies to improve access to and outcomes from transplantation. Kidney transplant-specific comprehensive geriatric assessment (KT-CGA) may be transformative for this population.
Biography:
John Holland is a nephrology specialty trainee working as a clinical research fellow at Guy's and St Thomas' while pursuing a PhD at King's College London School of Immunology and Microbial Sciences under the supervision of Professor Antonia Cronin and Dr Judith Partridge. Following a year as a clinical fellow with POPS, his research focuses on improving access to and outcomes from kidney transplantation in older potential transplant recipients by integrating kidney transplant-specific comprehensive geriatric assessment (KT-CGA) in the pre-transplant care of these patients.
