Chemsex, homelessness, and deep social exclusion within LGBTQ+ communities

Online

This talk will discuss the connections between chemsex, homelessness, and deep social exclusion within LGBTQ+ communities in South London. It will focus on LGBTQ+ experiences of homelessness services and housing pathways, implications for healthcare and community care, and considering solutions for gaps in current service provision. Emily Porro is a Navigator in St Mungo’s Southwark SPOT rough sleeping outreach team. She has recently started an NIHR Predoctoral award and is studying a Global Health MSc at King’s College London, alongside developing a research proposal on this topic. Matt Trew is a peer worker at Janus Solutions, supporting people experiencing addiction, across supported housing and local drug and alcohol services. Matt is collaborating with Emily to develop a research proposal on chemsex and homelessness.
