The Cicely Saunders Institute is hosting the international symposium, which will focus on advancing knowledge and improving care for children and young people whose parents have a life-limiting illness.

Researchers, health and social care professionals, policy makers, and community representatives are invited to join a multidisciplinary team of experts at this 1-day conference, led by Professor Richard Harding and Dr Steve Marshall at King’s College London. We are delighted that Baroness Ilora Finlay, Professor of Palliative Medicine, and member of the House of Lords will be speaking and sharing her reflections on the rights of children who were bereaved or facing bereavement. This symposium brings together a distinguished group of international speakers, including Professor Denice Sheehan from Kent State University, USA, who will discuss the American perspective on children's rights.

The day will include presentations from researchers, who have been undertaking novel research aiming to understand and improve the rights and support provided for children whose parents have a life-limiting illness. An international panel of experts will share their reflections and lead the discussion about what’s needed for the future.
