What is the Climate Action Network?
The King’s Climate Action Network (CAN) is a vibrant, open, and evolving community of students and staff working together to drive climate and sustainability action across King’s. Whether you're new to sustainability or already deeply involved, this is your space to connect, co-create, and make change happen.Since its creation, CAN has:
- Co-developed the Climate & Sustainability Action Plan (CSAP) (2020–22)
- Implemented grassroots projects (2022–23)
- Sparked new ideas and collaborations (2023–24)
Now, for 2025–26, we’re taking it further.
What’s new this year?
This year, CAN becomes an umbrella network, bringing together existing initiatives across King’s Climate & Sustainability. We’ll be:
- Consulting the network on the draft university-wide sustainability strategy
- Exploring barriers and incentives to climate action
- Supporting your ideas, passions, and projects—whatever they may be!
If you’re passionate about a specific issue, we’ll help you build a group around it. CAN is malleable by design—you shape it, we support it.
Tools to Take Action
We’re offering a powerful trio of opportunities to help you turn ideas into impact:
1. Carbon Literacy Training
Understand the climate crisis and leave with personal and collective pledges to act, as well as an accredited certificate!
2. Sustainability Projects Fund
Apply for funding—individually or in groups—to bring your pledges and ideas to life.
3. Community Organising Training
Learn how to build movements, do power analysis, and organise around what matters to you in collaboration with Citizens UK.
4. Disruptive thinking & compelling communications workshop in Collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Institute at King's
Unlock bold, disruptive ideas and craft compelling narratives around them, perfect for turning your sustainability vision into a standout application for the Sustainability Projects Fund!
These opportunities will run at least twice a year (Term 1 & Term 2), so there are plenty of chances to get involved.
Stay connected
We’ll host bi-monthly events and meetups to keep the energy flowing, support your work, and help you connect with others across the university.
What to expect at the launch?
- Interactive sessions to explore the CAN journey and what’s ahead
- Opportunities to shape the network to suit your interests
- A chance to meet like-minded changemakers
- Snacks, good vibes, and inspiration!
