Up until now, gender equality considerations have escaped the scope of competition law and the attention of competition authorities, whose focus has been on firms and consumers. The ‘blindness’, however, of the discipline to gender has been questioned in recent years and the case has been made for a more gender inclusive competition policy. In this context, the OECD has played a pivotal role in driving the discussion forward and in developing the necessary evidence to inform a practical toolkit for interested competition authorities. Against this background, this seminar will explore the relevance of gender considerations to tackling collusion and facilitating market access.
