About the event

Amplifying voices of young Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the next generation of change-makers, Warriors is a documentary film created by a small group of students and alumni from the Murrup Barak Institute for Indigenous Development, University of Melbourne.

Filmmakers Maggie Blanden, Nicholas Currie, Ethan Savage, Jessica Alderton and Shanysa McConville will be presenting their work in the UK and facilitating intercultural learning through a project that is of genuine benefit to themselves and the their communities.

Shaped from documentary footage captured by the young filmmakers on Country, in conversations with Elders, family and friends, Warriors explores what it means to be a cultural leader for young Indigenous people in the present day, in a global context.

The film is in response to the UK/AU Season 2021/22 theme: Who are we now? The premiere is hosted by the Menzies Australia Institute.
