Why can't some people access financial products and services, and why does it matter? Can disruption in the financial sector lift people out of poverty and improve peoples' lives?

Join the Entrepreneurship Institute with special guest Ann Cairns, Executive Vice Chairman at MasterCard and Norris Koppel, Founder and CEO of Fin-tech start-up Monese on July 22nd for an evening of discussion about financial inclusion and innovation in finance.

The evening will start with an introduction to our guests, followed by an informal Q&A with our special guests to highlight how financial inclusion can lead to reduced inequality. We will also touch on the financial inequalities brought to the fore in light the global pandemic.

  • Two billion - more than half of the world’s working adults – remain excluded from formal financial services. This is most acute in developing and emerging economies and it means being stuck in a cash-based economy that makes you vulnerable to increased crime, inconvenience and higher costs.

  • Including people in the formal economy – through access to savings, credit, insurance, and payment services – contributes significantly to sustainable economic growth and is a critical contribution in tackling poverty, inequality, and fostering inclusion.

The rich discussion will yield examples of how global financial systems can be disrupted to lead to improved financial inclusion before describing and insight into what Mastercard is doing to advance this agenda.

We will also learn how start-ups like Monese are innovating to break down barriers and make financial products and services more inclusive.

The final segment will be a dedicated Q&A with the audience, therefore we encourage you to submit questions during registration.
