Join Professor Sirio Dupont from University of Padua for a Force Talk entitled 'Mitochondrial dynamics as a new mechanics-to-biology transduction module.'
Abstract:
Recent findings in our laboratory indicate that extracellular mechanics regulates the morphology and dynamics of mitochondria, which triggers a trancriptional and metabolic antioxidant reponse. How general is such mitochondrial remodeling? How do forces and actomyosin tension regulate mitochondrial fission? What other mitochondrial functions, and what other mitochondrial-dependent signaling events, are regulated by extracellular forces? Join us online to know more on this fascinating process.
